One Week Painting Holidays on the Costa Blanca

A TYPICAL PAINTING WEEK

Day 1. Arrive at either Alicante or Murcia airports. Choose car hire or arranged pick-up (at extra cost), with only a 30 minute drive from both airports you reach your hotel in Guardamar Del Segura. Set close to the beach and in the centre of a relaxed Spanish holiday town with a quiet atmosphere. After settling in, why not take a stroll along the beachfront before dinner? You meet up with your tutors for a typical informal Spanish tapas style buffet complete with wine, and a chance to meet each of the other students. Having discussed your options for the weeks painting you have the opportunity to fine tune what you would like to concentrate on during your weeks holiday. The rest of the evening is left for you to relax in the comfort of your hotel.

Day 2. After a relaxing Mediterranean breakfast in the hotel you will either be met and transported to the studio by organised transport or travel in your own hire car if chosen. Once at the studio you can discuss with the first of your tutors what you want to achieve if not already decided the previous night. You will be given close tuition as required in your chosen style of painting. Classes run from 10am - 4pm including a tapas lunch with wine. Your evening is left free for you to return to your hotel and have a relaxing meal at a local restaurant of your choice.

Day 3. After breakfast you continue on with your previous days work from 10am - 4pm with another tapas lunch and wine included. Perhaps try other techniques or styles of painting as well? The options are numerous. Your evening is left free for you to enjoy the Spanish atmosphere of Guardamar and surrounding areas.

Day 4. Is slightly different…. After your breakfast and arrival at the studio, we take a very short walk into the natural park between the studio and the sea. Weather permitting, we will paint and sketch ‘en plein air’ in the park area between 10am - 4pm, taking advantage of the special light and healthy environment in such a tranquil location. We will have a picnic style lunch by the beautiful white sands of the Costa Blanca overlooking the blue waters of the Mediterranean. The evening is free for you to choose your own entertainment.

Day 5. Free Day! We can recommend various ideas for you to do on your day off, from visiting local markets or museums, shopping, diving, sailing, horse-riding and golf to name but a few. Of course, you may just want to rest in your hotel, or lie on the beach and soak up the sun. The choice is yours……

Day 6. After starting your day with breakfast at your hotel and then travelling to the studio, your second tutor takes over to give you other ideas, different styles and techniques to try. The day runs from 10am - 4pm with a working tapas lunch around 1pm. Enjoy another lovely evening in Guardamar Del Segura at your leisure.

Day 7. After breakfast, we get together for more painting tuition in the morning at the studio, working from 10am - 4pm, where you have the chance to finish off your work, ask questions and get any additional tips and help you require. We have a tapas lunch with wine together in the studio, and in the afternoon there is the opportunity to continue painting and finishing work. At 4.30pm we will hold an informal vernissage / exhibition with cava where you can take photographs to remind you of your weeks holiday. The last night is spent having an enjoyable dinner with your tutors in a local restaurant in Guardamar, where we can talk over the experiences of the week, get your feedback, and find out how people feel the week went overall.

Day 8. Last Day! This is your leaving day. After a final breakfast you can take the time to exchange phone numbers and addresses with new friends and acquaintances for possible future painting trips to Spain. In Spain we don’t say goodbye (adios) to friends but Hasta Luego (see you later). We hope you will enjoy your week so much that it won’t be long before you return to see us again.
